What you are told about Isa dying
Many teachers will tell you that it is clearly written in the Qur’an that Isa did not die on the cross like most think. They were fooled to think it was him instead it was another disciple that died instead of Isa. The Hadith say the same. But what are they not telling you? If you can not read Arabic how do you really know what it actually says?
Well there is a good chance that even in your language the truth is hidden in plain sight. (Remember that things that are in italics or in brackets ( ) are put there to ‘help’ you better understand the text by men and are not actually found in the Arabic at all!
So lets look closely at Surah 4: 157
-
And [for] their saying, "Indeed, we have killed the Messiah, Isa, the son of Mary, the messenger of Allah ." And they did not kill him, nor did they crucify him; but [another] was made to resemble him to them. And indeed, those who differ over it are in doubt about it. They have no knowledge of it except the following of assumption. And they did not kill him, for certain.
Read it without the bracketed words or italic words. Now read the whole Surat and get the context of what the whole discussion was actually about and not just pulling one thread out of the blanket.
Now read the only other place in the whole Qur’an that has the same Arabic phrasing and point of view.
Surah 8:17
-
And you did not kill them, but it was Allah who killed them. And you threw not, [O Muhammad], when you threw, but it was Allah who threw that He might test the believers with a good test. Indeed, Allah is Hearing and Knowing.
The Prophet (PBUH) was put in his rightful place after wining the first big battle, the battle of Badr. (In fact he lost the second battle.)
Now read what Isa himself said in the Injeel:
John 10: 17 and 18
-
“For this reason the Father loves me, because I lay down my life that I may take it up again. No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of my own accord. I have authority to lay it down, and I have the authority to take it up again. This charge I have received from my Father.”
These three pieces of scripture taken in their entirety and in proper context shows that the Jews and the Romans did not kill Isa but in fact it was Isa who laid his own life down and let them do it so that he may publicly rise back up from the dead and prove his authority. Anyone who reads with any honesty must agree.
